The New Captain Kangaroo!
It is with a lot of pride (and no small amount of envy) that I announce that my friend Pat Cashin (and blogger behind http://www.clownalley.net ) is the new Captain Kangaroo!
He acquired the trademark, and is set to do all kinds of great things with it, including (hopefully) make a boatload of money with which he will then give away to clown causes everywhere.
Seriously, I can’t think of a person I would rather entrust with the preservation of classic and kind comedy, such as the original Captain Kangaroo embodied. It’s a great fit.
In case you didn’t know, Captain Kangaroo ran for nearly 30 years from 1955-1984. It was created by Bob Keeshan, who had portrayed Clara-Bell on the Howdy Doody Show and also portrayed the famous Captain.
Pat Cashin has acquired the trademark, and will be portraying the Captain in a new updated set of Captain Kangaroo shows, cartoons, webisodes, and anything else they can do.

The production team for the New Captain Kangaroo includes: David Burd (Nickelodeon, MTV), Craig and Olga Marin (Flexitoons, Shining Times Station), Michael Karp (Nickelodeon’s Pinwheel), John Manigrasso (Showtime Networks) and Sandy Weber (Nickelodeon’s Jack’s Big Music Show, Disney Channel’s Bunnytown). Pat Cashin will portray the famous Captain.
