If the quintessential Broadway story is about a young girl or boy who comes to New York from a poor strugling town to try to make it big by singing and dancing, then Brazil! Brazil!, which opens February 10 at the New Victory Theatre is pure Broadway. It features 15 performers from the favelas of Salvador da Bahia, who sing, dance, samba, flip, and perform capoiera on the Great White Way.  (well, at 42nd and 7th Avenue, close enough anyway!)

Brazil! Brazil! in previous incarnations has been featured at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as a sell-out performance for two consecutive seasons, showcasing many of Brazil’s leading singers, musicians, dancers and songwriters.  This show will even feature a couple of Brazilian soccer stars.
